Terms & community guidelines

The rules for using ReelFriends. We've kept them short and in plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

Last updated 17 October 2026

The short version

Be 13 or older. Don't harass people, don't post things you wouldn't want a stranger to see, and don't pretend to be someone you're not. Your lists and reviews are yours. Report anything that doesn't belong and we'll look at it. Break the rules badly enough and you lose the account.

Using ReelFriends means you accept these terms. If you don't, don't use the app.

Who can use ReelFriends

You need to be at least 13. If you're in the EEA or UK and under 16, you need a parent or guardian's permission first.

One account per person. Don't create an account for someone else, and don't make a new one to get around a suspension.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using it.

Your username and display name are visible to anyone who can find you in search. Pick accordingly.

Community guidelines

ReelFriends is for sharing what you're watching with people you know. These are the things that will get content removed or an account suspended.

Harassment and hate

No targeting people with abuse, threats, or sustained unwanted contact. No attacking people over race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Disagreeing about a film is fine. Going after the person who liked it is not.

Inappropriate content

No sexual content, nudity, graphic violence, or gore, in profile photos, list names, reviews, or notes. No content that sexualises minors in any way; this is the one rule where we also report to the authorities.

Writing about a film's adult themes is allowed. Posting the material itself is not.

Impersonation

Don't pretend to be another person, or imply you speak for a company, studio, or service you have nothing to do with.

Spam and scams

No bulk or repetitive posting, no promotional content dressed as a review, no links to malware or phishing, no trying to move people to other platforms to sell them something.

Illegal and harmful content

Nothing illegal where you are. No promoting self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide. No links to pirated films or streams. ReelFriends points at legitimate services, and we intend to keep it that way.

Other people's privacy

Don't post someone's address, phone number, workplace, or any other private detail, even if you found it elsewhere.

How we enforce this

Some of it is automatic. Usernames, display names, list names and descriptions, reviews, and notes are checked for profanity as you write them. Profile photos are scanned when you upload them. Reviews are checked after posting and may be redacted.

The rest is people. Every report is read by a human.

Depending on what we find, we may remove the content, redact part of it, suspend the account, or delete it. Serious cases skip the warning: anything involving minors, credible threats, or illegal content.

If your account is suspended you'll see a message saying so when you try to sign in. Email us if you think it's a mistake.

Reporting and blocking

You can report a person or a review from inside the app: open it, tap the menu, and choose Report. You'll be asked to pick a reason (spam or scam, harassment or hate, inappropriate content, impersonation, or something else) and you can add detail.

You can also block anyone. Blocking hides their content from you and yours from them, and it doesn't tell them.

Reports reach us immediately. We aim to act on anything serious within 24 hours.

Your content

Your lists, reviews, ratings, and photos stay yours. We don't claim ownership and we don't sell them.

You do give us permission to store your content and show it to the people you've chosen to share it with. That's what makes a shared list work. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Don't post anything you don't have the right to post.

Where the film data comes from

Posters, synopses, cast, and ratings come from TMDB. Streaming availability comes from JustWatch via TMDB. ReelFriends is not endorsed or certified by either, and we can't guarantee any of it is current. A title may leave a service before we know about it.

ReelFriends doesn't host or stream films. Links take you to the services themselves.

Ads and links

ReelFriends is free and paid for by ads. Some outbound links to Amazon and Apple carry an affiliate tag, which earns us a small commission at no cost to you. It never changes what we show you or where we rank it. The affiliate disclosure has the detail.

Ending your account

You can delete your account whenever you like, from Settings in the app or by emailing us. It's immediate and permanent. See deleting your account.

We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these guidelines, or that's been inactive long enough that keeping the data isn't justified.

The app as it is

ReelFriends is provided as it is. We don't promise it'll be available without interruption, that film data will be accurate, or that it'll never lose something. Keep your own copy of anything you'd miss.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't be limited, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

We'll update these terms as the app changes. Material changes get a notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use ReelFriends after that means you accept the new version.
