Ratings that matter

Rate what you've seen and read what your friends thought — alongside Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic scores.

Settle it with a vote

Start a movie night vote on any shared list. Everyone gets one pick, the tally updates live, and the winner is announced to the group. Ties trigger a run-off instead of someone just deciding.

Pick from the whole list, or narrow it to five so nobody has to scroll through eighty titles while the popcorn goes cold.

Keeps up while you're not looking

ReelFriends tells you when a series on one of your lists gets a new season, and when something you've been meaning to watch arrives on a service you already pay for. No more discovering it left three weeks ago.

ReelFriends is a movie and TV watchlist app. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it's shared with. Plain language, no lawyering.

What you give us

  • Account details — your email address, display name, username, and a profile photo if you upload one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email, name, and profile picture from Google.
  • What you create — your lists, the titles in them, reviews and ratings you write, what you've marked as watched, and your favourite movie and show.
  • Who you connect with — friend requests and friendships between accounts.
  • Your preferences — which streaming services you subscribe to and which notifications you want.

What the app collects automatically

  • A push notification token, so we can send the alerts you've enabled. Turn notifications off and it goes unused.
  • An advertising identifier, collected by Google AdMob to serve ads. In regions where consent is required, you'll be asked before any personalised ad is shown, and you can change that choice any time under Settings → Ad privacy choices.

Profile photo moderation

Profile photos you upload are automatically scanned by Google Cloud Vision to detect explicit content. Images flagged as explicit are deleted and the photo is removed from your profile. No human reviews your photo as part of this.

Who we share it with

ReelFriends runs on services provided by others. Each receives only what it needs:

  • Google Firebase — sign-in, database, file storage, and the scheduled jobs behind notifications.
  • Google AdMob — advertising.
  • The Movie Database (TMDB) and MDBList — film and TV information, and Rotten Tomatoes / Metacritic scores. We send them the title you're looking at, never anything about you.
  • Expo — delivery of push notifications.
  • Resend — account emails such as verification and password resets.

We do not sell your personal data, and we don't share it with data brokers. The only aggregate figure the app publishes is an anonymous count of how many times a title has been added to any list — a number with no name, account, or list attached to it. That's what powers "Popular on ReelFriends".

What other people can see

Your display name, username, profile photo, favourite picks, and any lists you mark public are visible to other signed-in users. Reviews you write appear in the public review feed under your name. Private lists are visible only to you and the members you invite.

Your choices

  • Turn any notification category off in Settings.
  • Change your advertising consent in Settings, where your region requires it.
  • Delete your account and everything in it — email the address below and we'll remove it.

Children

ReelFriends isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Affiliate links

Some links out to streaming services — currently Amazon and Apple — carry an affiliate tag, meaning we may earn a small commission if you sign up or buy something. This never changes which services we show you or the order they appear in; availability comes from TMDB, not from who pays us. Links to every other service are untagged.
